PLANT BASED / COMPOSTABLE / RECYCLABLE / BIODEGRADABLE
ORIGIN: Made in the UK
DIMENSIONS: 167x230mm (C5)
FLAP: Self Seal 25mm Lip
THICKNESS: 30 Mic PLA Bio Film
MATERIAL: Clear Compostable PLA (vegetable starch)
ENVIRONMENTAL: EN13432 Compostable film
PRINTED: 'COMPOSTABLE BAG MADE IN THE UK' in black hot foiled text.
A BIT ABOUT ME:
I’m a plant based cello bags made from NATIVIA® which is a new generation of bio-based biaxially oriented flexible packaging films made of PLA polylactic acid from NatureWorks. Thanks to the bio-based content and the lower consumption of energy, PLA delivers a lower carbon footprint and additional end of life options compared to most oil-based plastics. All NATIVIA® films have achieved the four-star OK Biobased certificate from Vinçotte and are approved for industrial composting according to EN 13432 standard by DIN CERTCO.
HOW TO RECYCLE ME:
Home Composting: Although accredited for Industrial composting NATIVIA® PLA film is not accredited up to the level of OK Compost Home. This is because in many parts of the UK / EU local temperature and humidity will not be high enough to guarantee that it will break down by biological action to at least 90% within 6 months - as required to meet the accreditation criteria. However, that doesn’t mean to say that they will not break down at all. With the presence of suitable bacteria / fungi to start the process, the film will break down into compost, but it will take much longer.
Disposed through Landfill (Although there are no adverse effects – it will remain inert and not biodegrade due to low moisture content)
Recycled Mechanically or Chemically: But as both of these are specialist industrial processes they cannot be regarded as suitable at end of life for most purposes.
Please don’t put me in the recycling bins, although I will decompose over time, some councils may see me as plastic and don’t like me going in their bins.
WHAT CAN YOU USE ME FOR:
I’m ideal for packaging and keeping items in great condition such as greetings cards, stationary, paper goods, art prints etc.
WHERE AM I FROM:
I’m British and was manufactured locally in the UK by an excellent team to the highest standard.
